KLoé Turns 5 | The Process of Making A Reading Room with Nazir Harith and Amira Salleh

Join Nazir Harith and Amira Salleh as they share the thought process and personal touches that go into building a private reading room.

Five years ago, Nazir Harith was invited by KLoé Hotel to imagine the perfect room for a reader – a space that could also, at times, become a writer’s quiet retreat. Together, we explored the many ways reading takes shape: as escape, inquiry, ritual or rest.

From the beginning, we understood that a reader is never a monolith. Reading exists on a spectrum, and with KLoé, we set out to reflect that diversity in what eventually became Room To Read. Since then, we've been approached by many who want to create something similar for themselves – a space shaped by their own books, rhythms and interests.

Some ask: How many books does it take to make a personal library? Where do I begin? What should I buy? Others worry about cost, limited space, or not knowing “enough” to get started. Through this program, we’ll share our process behind Room To Read in more detail. And with our experience as booksellers for the past nine years, we hope to offer practical tips and thoughtful advice to help you kickstart your own personal library.

Because a library doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful. It just has to be yours.
